When did you first discover your passion for squash?
I suppose I was probably in my early twenties when I discovered squash. Not that I hadn’t heard about it, of course, but I’d never seen it played or heard the distinctive sound made by a squash ball hitting racket strings, a front wall or a squash court floor. And I’d never stood in the viewing gallery of a squash court and got a feel for what the game was all about. I don’t know why, but I just loved it. Since then, I’ve learned a lot more about the game, played it with varying degrees of success, and, hopefully, given something back as an organiser, a club official, a marker and a coach.
But it’s the importance of the game to millions of people across the world which has led me to start this blog; that, and the fact that I very nearly wasn’t around to feed my passion for squash or help others feed theirs. My own squash story and my own personal passion for squash will, I hope, emerge as I discover other people’s stories and re-tell them through this blog.
So, think of this blog as a place where squash, people and stories connect. A space where you can feel the passion, share the passion and use the passion you and others have for squash. Use it to feed yourself, your squash partners, your squash friends, members of your own squash tribes and anyone else who’s special in your life.
I hope you enjoy it.
